UNESCO Artist for Peace Jordi Savall in Venice to enhance Mediterranean dialogue of cultures
Jordi Savall, UNESCO Artist for Peace, will open on 1 June 2013 the third Festival Monteverdi Vivaldi at the Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista, in Venice, together with musicians from Turkey, Israel, Armenia, Greece, Morocco and catalonia.
The concert, organized by the Venetian Centre for Baroque Music, will celebrate the dialogue of cultures, through music and art, in the Mediterranean basin and the central role played by Venice throughout the centuries in such cultural exchanges.
Jordi Savall, together with the soprano Montserrat Figueras, was named UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2009 for his outstanding musical commitment to intercultural dialogue.
By encouraging an enabling environment in which all cultural expressions may be affirmed in their rich creative diversity, renewed through exchanges and partnerships, and made accessible to all, UNESCO endeavors to ensure that all cultures benefit from the development opportunities opened up by cultural creative industries.
