UNESCO travel grants to attend ESOF2010

To help young researchers from Eastern and South-Eastern European, and Mediterranean countries who wish to attend ESOF2010. Deadline 16 May 2010

1. – Purpose

UNESCO offers travel grants to help young researchers from Eastern and South-Eastern European, and Mediterranean countries who wish to attend ESOF2010 (see precise list of eligible countries below).

2. – Who can apply?

University students, PhD students or Postdocs below the age of 35, with citizenship and residence corresponding to one of the eligible countries listed below.

Eligible countries:
Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Greece, Hungary, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tunisia and Turkey.

UNESCO ICTP (The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics) students, PHD students and post-docs that are national of the above mentioned countries will also be eligible.

3. – Application

Complete the application form at www.esof2010.org/callforgrants, selecting the correct grant (UNESCO)

On submitting the application form for travel grants, you agree to the full acceptance of the rules and to the decision taken by the Selection Committee.

The deadline for applications for travel grants is 16th of May 2010.

4. – Evaluation

Selection Committee

Selection procedure and criteria
Members of selection committee evaluate CVs and in particular the following aspects:
- Scientific publications
- Motivation statement (including indications on how the experience of participation in ESOF2010 will be used in promoting science in your country of origin).
- Fluency in English (official language of ESOF2010; please consider also that UNESCO encourages multilingualism).

5. – Information

Grants will cover travel, accommodation for four nights, ESOF2010 fee, participation to ESOF party, meal vouchers.
