Workshop Recent Insights into our Universe. Bucharest (Romania), 28-29 October 2009


The workshop on "Recent Insights into our Universe" to be held in Bucharest, Romania, from 28-29 October 2009 is organized by the Astronomical Institute of the Romanian Academy within the framework of the International Year of Astronomy.

The workshop is supported by UNESCO, with the aim to increase the interest of youth and public in astronomy research, raising awareness about the importance of astronomy for education and research.

The workshop will cover the following research areas: A - solar physics and heliosphere; B - stellar astrophysics; C - galactic and extragalactic astronomy, and cosmology; D - celestial mechanics and dynamical astronomy; E - astrometry; F - history of astronomy and astronomy education. A volume of proceedings will be published.
