Joint Programming of UNESCO & other UN agencies
The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight goals to be achieved by 2015. The MDGs are drawn from the actions and targets contained in the Millennium Declaration that was adopted during the UN Millennium Summit in 2000. The eight MDGs break down into 21 quantifiable targets that are measured by 60 indicators.
The UN human security trust fund (UNHSTF) was established in 1999 with the aim of promoting human security through the protection and empowerment of people and communities threatened in their livelihood, survival and dignity.
UNESCO through its Venice Office is involved in 3 MDG Funding windows (Environment and Climate change, Culture and Development, Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding) and in 1 UNTFHS, country-level joint programming.

Eight Goals
"Looking ahead to 2015 and beyond, there is no question that we can achieve the overarching goal: we can put an end to poverty. In almost all instances, experience has demonstrated the validity of earlier agreements on the way forward; in other words, we know what to do. But it requires an unswerving, collective, long-term effort."
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
When the MDG Achievement Fund (MDG-F) decides to invest resources in a given area, a ‘funding window’ is opened for this purpose. Thematic Windows allow the Fund to target specific themes - More

The UNTFHS places priority on promoting multi-sectoral and inter-agency integration based on the comparative advantage of the applying organizations and through their collaboration.
Projects are distributed globally, with priority given to countries and regions where the insecurities of people are most critical and pervasive, such as the least developed countries (LDC's) and countries in conflict - More
