Travelling exhibit: Imagining the Balkans

The exhibit “Imagining the Balkans. Identities and Memory in the long 19th century”, part of UNESCO’s global initiative “Culture: a Bridge to Development”, seeks to enhance cooperation and dialogue among national history museums. It focuses on the constitution and evolution of modern nations in South-East Europe during the “long 19th century”, and is structured around 8 thematic paths.

Each venue commits to organize cultural and educational events (workshops, lectures, discussions, world cafés, etc.) around the various themes and issues addressed in the exhibit, thereby confirming the role of museums as educational institutions and platforms for youth civic engagement that stimulate dialogue and cultural exchange and help reconcile history and memory.
