Regional Centre for the Digitisation of Cultural Heritage (Skopje)

The Regional Centre for the Digitisation of Cultural Heritage (RECEDIG) was established in Skopje in 2007, thanks to a project managed by the UNESCO Venice Office and financed by the Italian Government (Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Italian Development Cooperation). It operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture – Cultural Heritage Protection Office.

The Centre’s facilities, refurbished and equipped as part of the afore-mentioned project, are located within the premises of the Skopje Museum of Contemporary Art. The Centre acts as a coordination platform for the exchange of information and good practices with and between SEE countries, and the enhancement of regional cooperation on the digitization of cultural heritage. Furthermore, the Centre organises training courses for national and local officers from relevant institutions of the country, and carries out operational activities for the digitisation of cultural heritage at national level.

The Ministry of Culture – Cultural Heritage Protection Office provides the necessary funds for the running costs of the Centre and staff costs, while the funds for accomplishing particular programmes are raised through different sources, including international cooperation.
