Vitaly Rubtsov, Russian Federation

Vitaly Rubtsov holds a Ph.D in Psychology, and holds the position of Rector of the Moscow State University of Psychology and Education since 1997. He is Professor and Full Member of the Russian Academy of Education, and Honorary Professor of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. Professor Vitaly Rubtsov is a specialist in general psychology, pedagogical and age psychology. His works concerning the issues of joint activity, group teaching/learning and, recently, developmental education are widely known in Russia and abroad. His scientific activity is closely connected with the Psychological Institute of Russian Academy of Science, where he was a fellow since 1972 and became its head in 1992 (and still holds the position today).

He has been heading the Laboratory of Psychological Foundations of New Educational Technologies since 1981. Researches carried out by Professor Vitaly Rubtsov describe a typology of teaching models that takes into account age-specific abilities and features of development in different groups of children, making it possible to effectively solve various problems arising in education and in teaching children with developmental disorders in particular. Being a member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Education and the President of the Federation of Russian Educational Psychologists, Professor Vitaly Rubtsov participates in research, organizational and practical work. He is the Chairman of the Editorial Councils of a number of academic journals, and a member of the ISCAR (International Society for Cultural and Activity Research) Executive Committee. He also is a board member of the Moscow Department of Education and a member of the Expert Council Presidium of the 'Vnimaniye' fund.
