Early Chilldhood Care and Education Regional Report: Africa The report gives an account of the situation of ECCE in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). It attempts to carry out an analytical review of ECD in the 46 SSA countries, as articulated in the five most dynamic regional economic communities (RECs), as per Figures 0.1 and 0.2. In the analysis, subregional issues are addressed in terms of West and Central Africa, in comparison with East and Southern Africa, often making reference to the regional economic communities illustrated in Figure 0.2.
