PCCP has developed various courses on conflict prevention and cooperation in the management of transboundary water resources. Course materials have been adapted to various target audiences and settings. Their aim is to contribute to water security and peace, through water diplomacy.
PCCP and UNESCO-IHE to organize short courses on "Negotiation and Mediation for Water Conflict Management" in 2011
The 2011 courses will take place in The Hague and Delft, The Netherlands, from 7-25 February, and from 28 February-19 March.
These courses are part of a joint MSc in Water Management – specialization Water Conflict Management and LLM in Water Governance and Conflict Resolution. They can also be taken by external candidates interested in a short training session in water and conflict management.
PCCP and Oregon State University offer an online Water Conflict Management Graduate Certificate
PCCP and OSU (Oregon State University) Department of Geosciences in the College of Science, with the Water Resources Graduate Program, and in cooperation with Ecampus now offer an online certificate in Water Conflict Management.
The online courses are only available in English.

A training for journalists on "How to improve communication and media reporting on water and cooperation?", organized by UNESCO and Internews' Earth Journalism Network, was held from 15-21 March 2009 in Istanbul, Turkey.
PCCP to give lectures on conflicts over water resources at the University of Roma Tre, Italy
Since 2006 PCCP has given lectures on conflict resolution and water within the Master's programme in "Peace Studies: International Co-operation, Human Rights and Policies of the European Union" at the University of Roma Tre, Italy. Over the years these lectures, which focus on the techniques and processes aimed at preventing, managing and resolving conflicts concerning water resources, have evolved into a 3-day seminar.
High-level training seminar on Enhancing Negotiation Skills in the Resolution of National and International Resource Disputes
The training took place at UNESCO-IHE, Delft, The Netherlands, from 21-23 October 2008.
Postgraduate programmes related to water conflict
A unique opportunity to study conflict management in Dundee and Delft has been created by two new and related master programmes that are offered under the aegis of PCCP, UNESCO’s programme on water and cooperation:
- MSc in Water Management – specialization Water Conflict Management
- LLM in Water Governance and Conflict Resolution
The Masters programmes provide participants with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the theoretical background of the scientific, legal and institutional aspects of water management, and gives them a range of methods, techniques and tools to apply the acquired knowledge. Studies are taught to critically assess the different functions of existing water resources systems, and to enhance their ability to design comprehensive water resource policies and strategies.

Courses on Conflict Prevention and Cooperation in International Water Resources in the South African Developing Community
The pilot courses took place in November 2002 in Maputo, Mozambique (5-day course) and Cape Town, South Africa (10-day course) respectively.

Several courses are organized in various universities across Latin America in coordination with UNESCO Montevideo Office.

The 6-day pilot course took place in Guayaquil in January 2006.
PCCP organizes jointly with the Mekong River Commission a training workshop on Transboundary Water Conflict Management and International Water Governance
The training workshop was held from 3 to 10 June in Khon Kaen, Thailand at the Mekong Institute.
