Tourisme culturel et route du patrimoine de la diaspora africaine

Heritage tourism is central to an initiative which aims to highlight the histories, influence and contributions of of African-descent population throughout the Americas and the Caribbean. The African Diaspora Heritage Trail (ADHT) brings together professionals from a range of different sectors and constituencies. Activities include the development of heritage itineraries.

Bermuda provided the venue for the Second ADHT Conference (Hamilton, Bermuda, 27 September-1 October 2006 ), with UNESCO's contribution through its Slave Route project including panel discussions on ‘Our Cultural Heritage along the Trail’.

A year later, the third international conference (Nassau, Bahamas, 10-14 October 2007) brought together over 300 participants, around the theme ‘From Slave Ship to Self Determined Destinations'.
