A World of Science
Between 2002 and 2013, this quarterly journal regularly informed the public about the work of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The journal popularized the science behind the issues, in order to put UNESCO’s work in context and broaden understanding of such key issues as climate change or the need to green the economy and improve natural resource management.
All the issues produced in Arabic (2008−2010), English (2002−2013), French (2002−2012), Malay (2007−2008), Russian (2006-2011) and Spanish (2006−2012) are open access and may be consulted freely online or downloaded. Stories are also grouped by theme and by region.
Between 2002 and 2011, A World of Science was distributed four times a year to more than 11,000 readers in 192 countries. The journal was disseminated to all governments and parliamentary libraries, as well as to numerous scientific bodies, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, youth groups, universities and schools. Readers were able to subscribe for free to either the print or e-editions. In 2012, it became a purely online journal.
