UNESCO World Forum on Culture and Cultural Industries – also known as FOCUS - is a platform for bringing various experts together to share ideas on different topics which vary from one meeting to the next. The Forum’s objective is to illustrate the potential of creativity, innovation and expertise to nourish cultural industries.
FOCUS provides a unique opportunity for decision-makers, creators and the private sector to exchange their thoughts on subjects related to economic performance and artistic excellence, while also underlining the central role of culture in sustainable development.
UNESCO already organised two sessions of the World Forum on Culture and Cultural Industries, in cooperation with the Italian Government, the Regione Lombardia and the city of Monza. Both gatherings took place at the Villa Reale di Monza in Italy.
The first session, FOCUS 2009, took place from 24 to 26 September 2009. The theme was “Creativity, Innovation and Excellence: From Crafts to the Design and Fashion Industries”.
The second session, FOCUS 2011, took place from 6 to 8 June 2011, and was entitled “The Book Tomorrow: The Future of the Written Word”.
