Rethinking Education in a Changing World based on revisiting the 1972 Faure and the 1966 Delors Reports: Meeting of Senior Experts Group
The first meeting of the Senior Experts Group meeting aims to identify new education perspectives based on the Faure and Delors reports’ vision of education and in light of the societal transformations underway since the mid-1990s.
The Meeting of Senior Experts Group will be the opportunity for 13 experts from the field of education and beyond representing the diverse regions of the world to undertake a critical review of "Learning to Be" (Faure Report) and "Learning: The Treasure Within" (Delors Report) in order to determine what portion of this vision of education remains relevant in today’s world and what might need to be refined, adapted, further developed, or re-conceptualized as we look to the future.
The expert meeting will assess the influence of the Delors and Faure reports on policy and practice worldwide; critically review the degree of continued relevance of the seven tensions, the paradigms of lifelong learning and the four pillars of learning to be, to know, to do and to live together, particularly emphasized in the Delors report; chart scenarios relative to the way in which specific education issues may play out in the future.
A second meeting of the Senior Experts Group shall take place next summer to broaden and finalize a short concise vision document.
