Zone de Texte: Dear friends and colleagues, As a conclusion to the series of events celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, The International Day meeting of UNESCO NGOs was held at UNESCO headquarters on 21 November 2008 from 10am to 6 pm. under the general title: Human Rights today: an ongoing fight for democracy. What challenges for NGOs? There was a high level plenary meeting in the morning, with, among others, representatives of Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, the European Court of Human Rights, and the Council of Europe. And 3 parallel workshops in the afternoon discussed the following subjects: Workshop 1 – Applying Human Rights today: what obstacles? Workshop 2 – the Universal Declaration and its implementation: what evolutions? Workshop 3 – Education and Human Rights in the XXI century. Report of the day (in French). Zone de Texte: Comité sur les ONG du Conseil Exécutif Réunion des 16 et 17 avril 2009 La réunion de printemps du Comité sur les ONG du Conseil Exécutif a permis une nouvelle fois, sous la présidence de Monsieur l’Ambassadeur Andras Lakatos, d’organiser un échange riche et constructif entre les Etats membres et les ONG en relation officielle avec l’UNESCO. Deux sujets importants étaient à l’ordre du jour : Le rôle des ONG dans le processus normatif, avec son application au secteur de la culture. L’UNESCO et les ONG face à une crise multiple : menaces et opportunités. Plusieurs représentants d’ONG se sont exprimés avec compétence sur chacun des deux sujets.
