ISSC hosts International Experts Meeting to discuss progress on the “Social Sciences & Humanities Futures” Project
On 22April 2008, ISSC hosted a gathering of international social science experts to consider and discuss initial research findings from the EU-supported “Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) Futures” Project. This project focuses on the development of SSH in Europe and their interaction with social demands.
The meeting was held at UNESCO headquarters and was co-organized by the Paris-based Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche Comparative en Sciences Sociales (CIR). Apart from representatives of the ISSC and CIR, other participants included the presidents general secretaries of international disciplinary associations in the social sciences, the coordinators of two related EU-funded projects - Global-SSH and ESSE – as well as representatives of the European Commission and the European Science Foundation.
