ISSC Meeting of Member Associations: 21 April 2008

On April 21, ISSC held a first-ever special meeting of its Member Associations, at UNESCO in Paris. The gathering assembled Presidents and General Secretaries of ISSC’s member associations, the main purpose being to update and consult around key new activities of the Council, including:

• The World Social Science Report, which UNESCO has asked the ISSC to produce; and
• The World Social Science Forum, which the ISSC will hold in Bergen, Norway, from May 10-12, 2009

In his introduction to the meeting, ISSC President, Gudmund Hernes, provided an overview of the history of the ISSC , emphasizing the central role of the international disciplinary associations in its development since 1952.
