Workshop on the NWSAS socio-economic results restitution

For the second phase of the Northern Western Sahara Aquifer System (NWSAS), a socio-economic assessment on the different uses of the Sahara basin water (Algeria, Libya and Tunisia) is being developed.

The NWSAS team organized on December 9 and 10 a restitution workshop on socio-economic results of this assessment.
Participated to this shop the national experts in charge of the realization of this survey in the three countries as well as the NWSAS project team and the international expert charged of the three reports product harmonization in countries.

This workshop permitted to present the assessment results, to discuss the different aspects on water uses and the used agricultural production as well as perspectives of the Sahara basin water demand.

The elaborated national reports should serve for the production of a synthesis report that can be the basis for the quantification of water needs in the Sahara basin.
