The Sahara and Sahel Observatory "OSS" organizes, in collaboration with the Ministry for Agriculture, Environment and the Water Resources the third meeting of the Steering committee of the North Western Sahara Aquifer System "NWSAS” on October, 30 and 31, 2002.

Mr Ameur HORCHANI Secretary of State in charge of Water Resources and Fisheries will open this meeting.

At this meeting will be exposed the results of the work carried out during three years within the framework of the project by the OSS experts team in close cooperation with the national teams of the three countries sharing the North Western Sahara Aquifer System : Algeria, Tunisia and Libya.

The results of the work that will be exposed will concern especially : the updating of the knowledge on the whole NWSAS aquifer, the setting up of a common Information System for the three countries including (a data base, a Geographical Information system and a digital model) as well as the starting of the consultation Mechanism.
