1994 - Address by Mr Pierre Elliott Trudeau

Member of the Jury

Representing Dr Henry A. Kissinger
President of the Jury

Your Majesties,
Your Excellencies,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

It was my intention and duty to inform you of the reasons which led my colleagues on the Jury and I to agree upon the choice of the two prizewinners whom we have come to honour and pay tribute to here. This has been eloquently conveyed to this illustrious gathering by the eminent speakers who have preceded me to the rostrum. I have nothing further to add to the excellent explanations that have already been given. I therefore suggest that we go straight on to the award ceremony.

I invite Mr Mayor to join me in explicitly expressing our feelings of esteem and friendship to those we are congratulating today.
