A World of Science

In October 2002, UNESCO launched a quarterly newsletter as part of a new communication strategy 'to keep UNESCO's concerns in the public eye and at the centre of public debate by making information easily available and attractive reading'.

A World of Science exists in English, French, Russian and Spanish in print and online. In French, it is called Planète Science and Un Mundo de Ciencia in Spanish. Issues are published in 9500 copies in January, April, July and October of each year. Current and back issues are freely accessible online.

A World of Science is distributed in 192 countries. It is despatched to the depository library in every country, to governments everywhere via ministries and the National Commission for UNESCO, to all Academies of Science and a great number of universities and research institutes, not to mention a growing number of secondary schools which have requested the newsletter for their library or classroom. Each issue also goes to sister UN agencies, IGOs and NGOs, private foundations and multinationals and the media.

It is planned to launch additional language versions of A World of Science in 2008.
