2007 South Asia and South East Asia Forum

"Capacity Building in Science and Technology: Policy Prespective and Future Challenges in the Context of Globalization"

 

New Delhi, November 27-29, 2007

On 29 November 2007, the Director-General attended and delivered a speech at the Closing Session of the 2007 South Asia and South East Asia Forum on the theme of "Capacity¬Building in Science and Technology: Policy Perspective and Future Challenges in the Context of Globalization", in the presence of the Minister for External Affairs, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, the Governor of Haryana and Chairman of the Zaheer Science Foundation, Dr A. R. Kidwai; and the President of the International Council for Scientific Unions (ICSU), Dr Goverdhan Mehta.

Co-sponsored by UNESCO and ISESCO, the Forum was organized by the Zaheer Science foundation, the Indian National Institute of Science Technology and Development Studies, the Indian Science Academy, and the International Council for Scientific Unions (ICSU). The aim was to encourage international exchange across interdisciplinary and regional divides in the area of science and technology and industrial development. The Forum was attended by research scholars, academicians, government officials, industrialists and staff from government departments. UNESCO was represented by Mr Abdul Wahid Khan, ADG/CI, and Mr Mustafa El Tayeb, DIR/SC/PSD.
