Prospective studies

UNESCO:

  • provides forecasting and monitoring of developments in S&T and their likely impact at the national and international levels;

  • identifies and investigates the ethical and social implications of scientific and technological developments;

  • provides forecasts and assessments of the directions technical change is likely to take; assesses the respective roles played by the public and private sectors, and explores new partnerships with stakeholders;

  • reflects on issues of a moral and ethical nature raised by scientific discoveries and technological innovation.
