R&D Management Workshop for High Level Decision-Makers

July 2009 - The Centre for South-South Cooperation in Science, Technology and Innovation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is organizing a training workshop on R&D Management for High Level Decision-Makers in Seoul, Republic of Korea on 16–20 November. The workshop is being run in cooperation with the Korean Institute for Science and Technology Evaluation and Planning. This follows an earlier international training workshop on Assessing Industrial Needs to Help Develop a Sustainable and Productive Science and Technology Policy, in Kuala Lumpur from 22 to 26 June 2009.

 
 
Deadline 2 March for participating in policy workshop

February 2009 - Member States of UNESCO which belong to the G-77, as well as China, have until 2 March 2009 to propose participants for a workshop taking place from 22 to 26 June at the International Science, Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation, established in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) under the auspices of UNESCO in 2008. Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and explore possibilities for cooperation at the workshop. Malaysia is inviting 20 participants and a further 20 places are reserved for participants from the G-77 countries and China. Each participant should fulfill the following criteria: a minimum Bachelor’s degree in a field of science or engineering; some policy-making experience in science and technology; employment at an intermediary level in public administration; an excellent command of English; and be aged less than 45 years. The organizers of the workshop will cover all expenses. To nominate a participant, write to the organizers.

Inauguration of International Centre for South-South Co-operation

May 2008 - The International Centre for South-South Co-operation in Science, Technology and Innovation was inaugurated on 22 May in Kuala Lumpur by the Malaysian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. The Director of UNESCO’s Division for Science Policy and Sustainable Development, Mustafa El-Tayeb, attended the event. UNESCO and Government of Malaysia sign agreement for centre

January 2008 - An agreement was signed on 21 January for the creation of the International Centre for South-South Cooperation on Science, Technology and Innovation in Kuala Lumpur. The agreement was signed by UNESCO Director-General Koïchiro Matsuura and His Excellency Dato Sri Jamaludin Jarjis, the Malaysian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, at UNESCO headquarters in Paris on 21 January.
