A master plan under preparation in Nairobi

Proceedings available from technology business incubators workshop
December 2007 - The Proceedings are now available for the workshop on technology business incubators organized by UNESCO
and the World Technopolis Association from 20 to 22 November 2007. For the past two years, UNESCO and the WTA have been holding
joint annual training workshops in the city of Daejeon in the Republic of Korea. (More)

A regional workshop on science and technology park development in Jakarta
September 2007 – UNESCO organized a workshop for the Asia-Pacific region on 3-5 September, in collaboration the Indonesian government, Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), World Technopolis Association (WTA) and Islamic Education Science and Culture Organization (ISESCO), It was attended by 40 participants from Asian countries: Bhutan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lao PDR, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Malaysia, Maldives, Thailand, Timor Leste and Uzbekistan.

Africa Regional Workshop of Science and Technology Parks Development, Windhoek, Namibia
9 to 11 May 2007 - The Workshop was organized by UNESCO in collaboration the Namibian Government, Korean International Cooperation
Agency (KOICA), World Technopolis Association (WTA) and Islamic Education Science and Culture Organization (ISESCO),
It was attended by participants from 18 African countries: Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Ethiopia, Kenya,
Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Isfahan Conference serves knowledge-based business
September 2006 - The theme of the Conference on Science and Technology Parks in the Iranian city of Isfahan from
18 to 19 September was serving Knowledge-based business to enhance economic development. Four partners were involved in
organizing the conference, during which some 43 papers were presented: UNESCO’s Division for Science Policy and Sustainable
Development, the Isfahan Science and Technology Town, the International Association of Science Parks (IASP) and the Asian
Science Parks Association (ASPA). The opening ceremony was attended by Dr M. Zahedi, Iranian Minister of Science, Research
and Technology; Dr M. Reaei, Iranian Secretary of Expediency Council; Dr Chachanat Thebtaranont, President of IASP; Dr Luis
Sanz, Director General of IASP; Dr Jong Hyun Lee, Chairperson of ASPA, Dr Chen Bo Park, representative of the World Technopolis
Association; and Dr Abdin Salih, Director and Representative of UNESCO’s Tehran Cluster Office. For more details of the

Arab States Regional Workshop of Science and Technology Parks Development, Bahrain
12-14 September 2006 - The workshop was organized by UNESCO in close cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain, World Technopolis
Association (WTA), Islamic Education Science and Culture Organization (ISESCO), Arab League Education
Culture and Science Organization (ALECSO), and Arab Academy of Science (AAS). It was attended by participants
from: Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirate,
West Banc Territory (Palestine) and Yemen.

UNESCO and Korea to foster science parks in South
September 2006 - The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Daejeon Metropolitan City and UNESCO have set up
a scheme to help developing countries manage science and technology parks, or ‘technopolises’. (More)
