PHILIPPINES Message on the occasion of the World Science Day for Peace and Development Republic
of the Philippines
As Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, I am delighted that November 10 has been designated "World Science Day for Peace and Development" by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. The global observance of the World Science Day is an indication of the world-wide recognition being accorded to science as the basis for attaining peace and equitable development. We at the Department will actively participate in the events and activities that will impress upon the general public the fundamental importance of science in advancing our understanding of nature and all it contains, as well as its role in improving the lives, health, and freedom of all peoples.
