Research on assessing literacy programmes

UIL will coordinate a small multi-partnership survey on assessing literacy programmes. Starting with selected French-speaking African countries, the study will expand to other regions and linguistic areas. More »

Literacy and Life Skills in Prison in Hamburg, 1 – 4 June 2008

The Grundtvig 2 Learning Partnership on “Literacy and Life Skills in Prison”, which is coordinated by UIL and consists of partners from Germany, Greece and Romania, will hold its sixth and final meeting from 1 to 4 June 2008 at UIL in Hamburg. During the second project year, which runs from September 2007 to the end of July 2008, the three project partners – ARSIS, ARED & CRED and Billwerder Prison Hamburg - have already met in Thessaloniki, Greece, in October 2007, and in Bucharest, Romania, in February 2008, to analyse literacy and life skills programmes, in particular for young inmates. 2008 ADEA Biennale on Education in Africa

UIL will participate in the Biennale organized by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) on the theme “Beyond Primary Education: Challenges of and Approaches to Expanding Learning Opportunities in Africa”. This meeting will focus on post-primary education and training. Around 600 participants from Ministries of Education, bilateral and multilateral agencies, as well as education professionals, are expected to attend the meeting in Maputo, Mozambique, from 5–9 May 2009. South-South Policy Forum on Lifelong Learning as the Key to Education for Sustainable Development

A South-South Policy Forum on Lifelong Learning as the Key to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 21 to 23 April 2008. The forum is a close collaboration between UIL, the Ministry of National Education, Indonesia, the Indonesian National Commission for UNESCO, and the UNESCO Office in Jakarta. More »

CONFINTEA VI National Reports Available Online

Preparations towards CONFINTEA VI are gaining ground as more and more Member States are submitting their national reports to UIL. To make the reporting a transparent process, the submitted reports are being made available online. The specific website will incorporate incoming reports as they are received by the Institute. It is expected that this will also provide good examples of national reports for those countries which are still in the process of preparation. More »
