8 Apr. 2008 CONFINTEA VI National Reports Available Online
Preparations towards CONFINTEA VI are gaining ground as Member States are slowly submitting their national reports to UIL. To make the reporting a transparent learning process, the submitted reports are being made available online. The specific website will incorporate incoming reports as they are received by the Institute. It is expected that this will also provide good examples of national reports for those countries which are still in the process of preparation. More »

The Sixth UNESCO International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VI) will be held in Brazil in 2009, aiming to promote the recognition of adult learning and education (ALE) as an important and conducive factor enabling lifelong learning. CONFINTEA VI will highlight its crucial role in international education and development initiatives such as EFA, MDGs, UNLD, LIFE and DESD. It is also expected to renew international momentum for ALE and develop the tools for implementation in order to move from rhetoric to action. More »

3 Jan 2008 Towards CONFINTEA VI: Preparing the National Assessment on the Development and State of the Art of Adult Learning and Education
As reiterated in a letter to National Commissions sent out by the Director-General of UNESCO last November, UNESCO Member States are asked to prepare national reports on the situation of adult learning and education and salient developments since 1997, the date of the previous CONFINTEA V, in preparation of the 6th International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VI). 9 Dec 2007 Second Meeting of the CONFINTEA VI Consultative Group
The Consultative Group (CG) is UILs advisory committee on the preparation for CONFINTEA VI. The group met for the first time in Helsingor, Denmark, in March 2007. The second meeting at UIL, Hamburg, concentrated on reviewing the overall preparation with a special focus on finalizing
the guidelines for national reports, discussing a thematic structure and a research-based report on adult education, and planning the regional preparatory conferences. More »

Sixth International Conference on Adult Education CONFINTEA VI As has been the tradition created by previous CONFINTEA conferences, the Sixth International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VI), which will be hosted by Brazil in 2009, will provide an important platform for policy dialogue and advocacy on adult learning and non-formal education at global level, involving UNESCO Member States, United Nations agencies, multi-and bi-lateral cooperation agencies, organizations from civil society, the private sector and learners from all world regions.
