UIL will participate in the Biennale organized by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) on the theme “Beyond Primary Education: Challenges of and Approaches to Expanding Learning Opportunities in Africa”. This meeting will focus on post-primary education and training. Around 600 participants from Ministries of Education, bilateral and multilateral agencies, as well as education professionals, are expected to attend the meeting in Maputo, Mozambique, from 5–9 May 2009.
UIL will contribute presentations and papers on LLL connections and post-primary and post-basic approaches and strategies to provide quality education and training to out-of-school children and youth in Africa within a context of lifelong learning. A major priority will be to explore the contribution of national qualification frameworks and recognition of non-formal and informal learning to the integration and articulation of post-primary education and training in Africa.
As a member of the ADEA Working Group on Non-formal Education, UIL has commissioned studies that will be presented in a session devoted to non-formal education. All of these studies will be available online on the Biennale Website
