The second Regional Meeting of the six Arab LIFE countries – Egypt, Iraq, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan and Yemen – took place from 3 to 6 December 2007 in Marrakech, Morocco. The main purpose of the meeting was to review the progress made to date, and to exchange and learn from prior experiences. Participants also examined the LIFE implementation strategy and discussed innovative approaches to literacy and NFE that could enrich existing policies, strategies and programmes. One of the meeting’s highlights was a one-day field visit to selected literacy sites in rural and urban areas. The meeting furthermore provided an opportunity to explore possibilities for fostering South-South cooperation and accelerating literacy efforts in all six Arab LIFE countries.
