According to the World Health Organization, less than 1% of the world's freshwater, or 0.007% of all the water on Earth, is readily available for human world consumption. Another reason not to waste, pollute or misuse the planet's water!
1. Everything relates to water, water makes up many of your fruits and vegetables, be consicous on a daily basis how much water is important in all elements of your life.
2. Keep your community clean, recycle and do not litter. You will actually save water!
3. Get your friends and families to be water conscious as well! You make the rules in your house!
4. Make environmentally smart choices in your daily life in terms of products. Eat products that come from agriculture that respects the environment and uses little pesticides, chemicals and less water than intensive agriculture.
5. When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.
6. Only run your washing machine and dishwasher when they are full.
7. Keep a pitcher of water in the refrigerator or in the freezer to keep it cold. This is better than keeping the tap running until the water gets cold.
8. In many countries the water is of excellent quality and hence there is no need for drinking bottled water. Drink the water from the tap and save our environment from plastic bottles. If you do buy bottled water, reuse the bottles or buy bigger bottles.
9. When you clean your fish tank, use the water you've drained on your plants. The water is rich in nitrogen and phosphorus, providing you with a free and effective fertilizer. In general, never throw away water that could be used for something else.
10. Take short showers!
11. Before you take a shower, install a low-flow showerhead. They aren't expensive and can make a huge difference in your water consumption.
12. Turn off the water while you brush your teeth, shave, etc.
13. We're more likely to notice leaky faucets indoors, but don't forget to check outdoor faucets, pipes, and hoses for leaks. These waste huge quantities of water.
14. Always water your lawn during the early morning hours, when temperatures are cooler, to minimize evaporation. Keep in mind that in some families this represents 50 percent of their use of water.
15. Capture rainwater to water your plants.
