Summary:
This international symposium, an activity of the World EXPO 2005 in Aichi (Japan), will be held at the United Nations University (UNU) in Tokyo. It is embedded within the EXPO's central theme on 'Nature's Wisdom' and also reflects the theme of the United Nations Pavilion at the EXPO 2005 on 'Celebrating Diversity'.

The symposium will review the interrelationship of cultural and biological diversity as well as conservation and management aspects. The IHP theme 'Water and Society' focuses on the complex relationships between people and their water resources.
