From 2001-10-01 to 2001-10-04
Venue: Hilton Alexandria Mark Center, Alexandria, Virginia
Summary:
The introduction of nonindigenous aquatic invasive species is an ongoing problem that is increasing in frequency. Although the zebra mussel may be the most widely known invader, there are numerous other alien pathogen, invertebrate, fish and plant species that are causing significant damage to coastal and freshwater ecosystems, and to the economies that depend upon them. This annual four-day conference is widely considered the most comprehensive forum for the review of accumulated scientific knowledge, presentation of the latest field research, introduction of new technological developments for prevention, monitoring, control and mitigation, and discussion of policy, legislation, public education and outreach initiatives related to aquatic invasive species.
