Summary:
The objective of this advanced course in dam failure flood analysis is to present the governing principles for simulating the development of a dam breach flood and its progression through the downstream river valley using the following computer programs: FLDWAV, HEC-RAS, DAMBRK, BREACH and SMPDBK. The instructors will lead comprehensive hands-on workshops for each of the computer models, including many of the advanced features of FLDWAV and HEC-RAS. In addition, the selection of breach parameters, cross-sectional properties, boundary conditions and numerical computational parameters will be discussed and reinforced with numerous example problems and hands-on exercises.
