Summary:
The unifying theme of this conference is the importance of groundwater and/or surface water and hyporheic zone interaction to the ecological systems and related processes. The goals of the conference are to be better understand, simulate, and manage, interactions between groundwater and ecology and to improve the technological basis for policy decisions for issues such as the reconstruction of ecologically valuable environments and the use of water resources in these environments.
The Conference will contribute to the implementation of the Groundwater Component of the sixth phase of the IHP (IHP-VI, 2002-2007).
