Summary:
EUROMARKET is a 3-year research project. It is funded by the European Union under the ‘Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development’ programme of the 5th Framework Programme and by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education and Research.
The project activities are as follows:
• examining the European Union explicit and implicit policies and approaches in the water sector
• examining existing and potential dynamics of de facto and de jure liberalization
• identifying possible water liberalization scenarios
• assessing implications of these scenarios (economic, ecological, social, legal, institutional and organizational).
The conference will present the results of the projects research and will then discuss them with major stakeholders in Europe (i.e. private and public operators, the European Commission, independent national regulators, consumer associations and NGOs).
