From 2002-03-06 to 2002-03-08
Venue: Berne, Switzerland
Summary:
Everyday-practice repeatedly asks for the estimation method most accurate for flood discharge assessment. Often enough the current procedure is fairly pragmatic: Methods as simple as possible are being adopted to obtain adequate results in a minor timely fashion for catchments where little measuring data or none at all are available. With increasing demand for accuracy, however, these simple methods no longer meet the challenge of problem approach.
The conference on "Flood Estimation" is aimed at presenting and discussing the latest developments within the field of flood estimation for micro- and mesoscale catchments. Apart from hydrologic aspects of model evolution and questions in connection with regionalisation of floods the practical use of models will be given prior attention.
