Summary:
This course is focused on learning techniques for sampling and determination of epilithic diatoms and their uses as river pollution indicators. The course aims to train specialists in the characterization of these indicator organisms, responding to the demand in trained professional on inland waters quality to comply with the European Water Framework Directive. The course will introduce the students to benthic diatoms sampling techniques, treatment and taxonomic diagnosis.
