Summary:
This course will disseminate an integrated approach to the development of flood risk reduction strategies that involve engineering, settlement, development, public administration, and community based strategies and land use planning with environmental considerations. This multidisciplinary treatment of flood problems and of the requirements of flood risk management is expected to enable a holistic view of the situation and the necessary measures for preparedness. Case study examples of various responses at the national and local levels will be presented to show concrete applications of the mitigation measures.
