Summary:
The Protocol on Water and Health is an international legally binding instrument under the Water Convention of 1992 that entered into force in August 2005. It aims to protect human health and well-being by improving water management and preventing, controlling and reducing water-related disease.
During their first meeting, the Parties to the Protocol on Water and Health will review and adopt the work programme for the period 2007-2009 and agree on legal documents, particularly the Rules of Procedure and the compliance regime.
