From 2002-03-13 to 2002-03-15
Venue: Adams Mark Hotel
Denver, Colorado - USA
Summary:
The goal of Fractured-Rock Aquifers 2002 is to foster communication between policy makers, land-use planners, and ground water scientists to promote the sustainable use of vulnerable natural resources. Ground water research should address the issues most relevant to planners and policy makers, and it is important that scientific ground water information be used or understood by those who most need it.
Among conference topics:
- Water management policy in fractured-rock settings
A. Land-use planning
B. Water use and sustainability
C. Completion of Source Water Assessment Programs and transition to source water protection
D. Water quality issues - naturally occurring and anthropogenic contaminant issues
E. Individual sewage disposal systems (ISDS)
2) Characterization of fractured-rock aquifers from borehole to watershed scales
A. Geophysical and remote sensing techniques
B. Field-based geologic framework and visualization
C. Hydrologic data collection, monitoring, and simulation
D. Recharge rates
E. Geochemical characterization and ground water dating
F. Computer simulation of watershed and aquifer dynamics.
