From 2007-10-10 to 2007-10-16
Venue: Beijing, China
Summary:
The Advanced Training Workshop on Reservoir Sedimentation Management is designed to fulfill the demands and needs of hydraulic engineers, managers, stakeholders and decision-makers particularly in countries facing problems related to reservoir sedimentation. Through lectures, discussions, exchanges and one-day field study tour, participants will have the opportunity to improve their knowledge of basic sediment theory and acquire the latest techniques in the management and control of reservoir sedimentation.
The workshop is being organized in the framework of the International Sediment Initiative (ISI) of IHP/UNESCO. Established in 2002, ISI is a new global initiative to assess erosion and sediment transport to marine, lake or reservoir environments aimed at the creation of a holistic approach for the remediation and conservation of surface waters, closely linking science with policy and management needs.
The International Research and Training Centre on Erosion and Sedimentation (IRTCES) in Beijing, China, established under the auspices of UNESCO, has been designated as the Technical Secretariat of ISI.
Organizers: International Sediment Initiative of UNESCO/IHP, International Sedimentation Initiative (ISI)-UNESCO-IHP; Ministry of Water Resources, China; World Association for Sedimentation and Erosion Research (WASER); Chinese National Committee for IHP
