The overall aim of the symposium is to present and discuss some of the cross-cutting issues on spatial planning approaches to sustainable river basin management and to present the results of the Watersketch project.
The main themes of this symposium are:
• European legislation on water courses and spatial planning
• approaches to sustainable river basin management
• decision-support tools and systems related to river basin planning
• public participation and the Water Framework Directive
• environmental data management
• GIS in river basin management and planning.
