Summary:

Experts from academic, public, and private sectors will discuss technical, social, and economic issues associated with tropical storms and hurricanes in Gulf Coast communities. This conference is a follow up to the conference held at Rice University on ‘Severe Storms Impact and Disaster Response’ in March 2006.
Conference participants will address the following questions:
• flood prediction and flood alert
• impacts to the gulf coast
• coastal surge modelling and impact
• climate change impacts to infrastructure
• advanced technology and GIS
• flood inundation zones and floodplains
• education and outreach.
