Venue: Irbid, Jordan
Summary:
Roller compacted concrete (RCC) dams are a significant breakthrough in the design and construction of dams. They were developed in the 1980s. Their advantages have been confirmed and acknowledged by reduction of cost and time for completion of civil works. Today there are three dams under construction in Jordan. These dams are likely to solve the most urgent water problems in the country.
The aim of this workshop will be to present the possibilities and limitations in building RCC dams with regard to the specific conditions of the Middle East region. The topics will include experiences and new developments on:
- Materials
- Design
- Construction
- Crack Control
- Monitoring
- Geology & Foundation
- Stability Analysis
- Earthquake Engineering.
Participants will be:
- dam engineers working in the administration
- consultant offices
- construction companies
- universities
- international organisations.
