From 2009-10-26 to 2009-12-14
Venue: Cairo, Egypt
Summary:
The region Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is a region under serious water stress. A new training programme on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) addresses decision makers from the MENA region. Three eight-day pilot courses will be organized from October until December 2009, in Cairo, Egypt.
The training programme offers a multi-perspective approach on practical aspects of IWRM policy making. Topics such as network management, teamrole management, project management or multi-stakeholder cooperation on water resources are covered. Good practice examples are shared and discussed. The training will be provided by professional trainers with long-standing experience in this field.
The training programme is a contribution to two parallel UN Decades: the Decade “Water for Life” (2005–2015) and the Decade “Education for Sustainable Development” (2005–2014), as well as to UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme.
Organizers: Organized by the German National Commission for UNESCO; the UN-Water Decade Programme on Capacity Development; the German National Committee for the International Hydrological Programme of UNESCO and the Hydrology and Water Resources Programme of WMO; funding support from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany
