Summary:
On the occasion of the World Water Day 2002, PROTOS, a Flemish independent and non-governmental organization active in the water sector has organized an international seminar which will take place in Brussels, on Friday, 22 March 2002. The seminar is entitled "Water, A Lever for Development".
I. WATER, A LEVER FOR DEVELOPMENT
- "today’s tendencies in the water sector in a North- South
perspective", by International Water and Sanitation Centre, the Netherlands
- "Water as a lever for social emancipation" - a Congolese and Haitian statement
- "Water as a lever for good governance" by WaterAid, UK;
- "Water as a lever for economic development – a vision from the private sector" by Suez;
- "Water as a lever for sustainable development" by the Global Water Partnership;
II. WATER IN THE VISION ON DEVELOPMENT BY AUTHORITIES
- "Water in the vision on development by the European Union" by the European Commission;
- "Water in the vision on development by the Worldbank" by the Worldbank
- "Water in the vision on development by the Belgian Government" by the Ministery of Development cooperation
III. DEBAT AND CONCLUSIONS
