From 2002-11-18 to 2002-11-22
Venue: Monterrey, N.L., Mexico
Summary:
The need for improving the exchange and access to hydrological, hydraulic and water quality data, as well as for capacity building has been recognized in many scientific and technical meetings dealing with transboundary water resource systems. This need can only be met through an integrated approach to water resources management that takes into account the unitary nature of international and interstate basins and aquifers.
The Symposium's objective is to review the main issues involved in the management of transboundary basins and aquifers with an integrated scope. Water quantity and water quality management, as well as aspects related to agricultural and industrial development, forests and fisheries, will be considered. Social, economic, political and education issues will also be included, in view of their relevance in the international and interstate water resources arena.
Several experts will be invited to give keynote speeches dealing with different topics related to transboundary waters management.
