Summary:
The seminar aims to contribute to enabling government at all levels and other stakeholders to concretely implement sustainable programmes and incorporate gender and equity practices into legislation, policies and decision- marking process concerning the design and management of water resources and systems in West Africa. This would help to establish mechanisms according to local conditions and needs to ensure equitable and meaningful participation of all interest groups in managing West Africa's Water Resources. It would also contribute in mobilizing the rights and meeting the demands of the poor especially women, to have affordable and accountable services.
The main objective is to set up the Women and Water Development Fund (WWFD) for Africa to promote and support issues of Gender, Employment, Water and Poverty Alleviation (GEWPA).
The seminar targets participants from the 16countries of the West African sub-region and neighbouring Cameroon and Chad.
