From 2002-10-07 to 2002-10-09
Venue: The Westin Hotel, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
Summary:
The goal of this national symposium will be to assess the successes and failures of science and policy related to restoration of wetlands and related waters and, most importantly, to point to methods for improving future success. Success in managing and improving the quality of wetlands nationally requires the marriage of sound science and balanced policy.
Concurrent with the advances in wetlands restoration, increasing concern has been raised nationally regarding the quality of aquatic resources, particularly water quality impairment caused by nonpoint sources. While this has been an area of ever increasing attention for streams and rivers, similar attention has not been directed to wetlands.
Topics:
- Impaired Wetlands and Waters
- Federal, State, Local and Private Protection and Restoration Programs
- Restoration
- Monitoring and Assessment
- Water Quality Standards for Wetlands
- Isolated Wetlands
- Integrating Wetlands and Watershed Management
- Integrating Wetlands and Land Use Management
- Regulation.
