From 2002-10-07 to 2002-10-18
Venue: Birmingham, United Kingdom
Summary:
The aim of the course is to address the mitigation of river flood risks, which has an important influence on wealth creation and the quality of life in all Member States. This topic will be explored by considering the nature and flow of information needed to mitigate the risk of flooding at a river basin level. The objectives for the course are:
- How information and knowledge on risk of flood mitigation is acquired, archived and analysed.
- How this information and knowledge is used to generate additional information and knowledge through modelling.
- How the resulting information and knowledge is used in helping management make decisions both for the planning and design of flood control measures and for the real time control and maintenance of rivers prone to flooding.
- To disseminate advances in knowledge and understanding from recent EC research projects under the Framework RTD programmes.
